Bush Motorsports Racing Teams Up With Racing Against Cancer

Bush Motorsports Racing is proud to announce it has teamed up with Racing Against Cancer.
It is often said that one person cannot make a difference. Jon Blanchette Has made a difference. Today, he is one man among a dedicated and hardworking group, but it was this man’s dedication to his wife’s wishes that started the ball rolling. Jon Blanchette found the Racing Against Cancer™ Team in 1996 after cancer claimed the life of his wife Jodi in 1994. The purpose of the team was to generate awareness and funding for the American Cancer Society.

"It was her dream to make something good come from all she went through", said Blanchette in 2003. In 2004, at the Eighth Annual Racing Against Cancer™ Team check presentation in the Acapulco Room at the Foxwoods Resort Casino, Blanchette exclaimed, “I never dreamed this program could get this big, but I hope to be here for 20 more years.” It was the original agreement between Blanchette and Foxwoods that spawned the birth of the Racing Against Cancer™ Program. And it is the commitment of Gregory, Foxwoods and the hundreds of drivers, owners, teams and race fans that continue to fuel the success year after year.
The Racing Against Cancer™ Team is still maintained by it’s core members Blanchette, Gregory, the Foxwoods Resort & Casino employees, and a number of Foxwoods volunteers. Scott Gregory, Director of the Racing Against Cancer™ program, kicked off the agenda with an announcement that Founder Jon Blanchette was unavailable to attend. Blanchette, had recently become a father to 6 pound, 9 ounce baby girl, Nicole.

Through the efforts of many generous and talented racing teams and organizations, the Racing Against Cancer™ program raised $64,000 in 2005. A total of $454,215 has been raised since the program’s inception.“Next year we’re crossing the half-million dollar mark and that is very exciting,” said Foxwoods Vice President of Marketing Bob DeSalvio. “To raise $64,000 in this year – a year of hurricane’s and rising gas prices – is a testament to this cause. None of it would have been possible without the help of all the volunteers.”

Bush Motorsports Racing will be selling wrist bands at all our racing events and will be Selling select Racing Against Cancer Merchandise , with all proceeds going to Racing Against Cancer and Davids House.
