Hello, and welcome to Bush Motorsports Racing web page. Let me begin to introduce myself. My name is Mike Bush, the Owner/Driver of the #31 Nascar modified.

HIstory
Bush Motorsports Racing commenced in the mid to late 50’s, not as its name now, but as Tom & Robert’s Kart Shop based out of my grandfather’s garage in West Haverstraw, NY.  This was operated by my uncle, Thomas Snellen, my grandfather, Reggie Bush and my father, Bob Bush. The three sold and serviced Go-Karts.  My Dad raced them all over the east coast, until the early 70's and then quit, only to begin back in the late 70's, but on dirt at the Accord Speedway in Accord NY.

I had gone racing with my Dad as far back as I can remember, and always had the want and desire to race myself, and follow in his footsteps. My Mom was dead against this whole idea and would never let it happen, due to the nature of the sport and the risks involved. Finally in the early ‘80's, my Dad hung up his helmet, only to get involved with his good friend, Jim Fugel of Olivebridge, NY, with a small block modified at Accord Speedway. Dad had the motor, Fugel had the car. This lasted a few years and Dad retired from the sport, except to be a spectator.

Finally…my turn behind the wheel
All along I still had this racing itch that needed to be scratched and it wasn’t until 1997 that my itch was finally scratched. I bought a dirt kart and raced at Accord Speedway, with my Dad’s close guidance and support. I raced there until 2002 with many feature wins under our belt.  I than bought another dirt kart, a Buller open 2 stroke dirt kart, that I raced at Accord Speedway and Oakland Valley Race Park until 2003.

Also in the spring of 1997 I met a very good friend, Phil Jackson of Beacon, NY. Phil became a Dap Enduro Kart Dealer, (Yes, I had my arm twisted into buying one!).  Phil had raced Enduro Karts for some time and had a couple National Championships under his belt. My Dad, Phil, and I worked hard to put the kart together. With their help, I ran the spring race at Summit Point Raceway in Winchester, VA where I took home “Best Appearing Enduro Kart Honors” as well as finishing in the top 3 many times.  I was very proud of everyone who helped me out.
I ran Enduro karts at Louden, NH, at the New Hampshire International Speedway and Summit Point Raceway until September of 2003, where I finally took home my first win in an Enduro Kart. I also earned a couple 2nd place finishes at two WKA Nationals.

After the 2003 season, I took a break until the 2007 season. I got back behind the wheel of my Dap Enduro Kart at Louden, again with my buddy Phil racing with me.  I won 1st place in the spring race in 100cc controlled class.   I finally had my break and beat Phil (only because he broke down), but I'll take a win anyway I can get one!

Phil has been a tremendous help through the years, and I can not thank him enough.

A New Challenge
In May 2007 I made a decision to purchase a full size, winged sprint car from Justin Barger (Cortland Auto Body Motorsports) of Montrose, NY. Justin has been a tremendous help to me, with advice and pointers in the building this car.  I also got advice and support from Tad Uzzle of Wappingers Falls, NY, who pilots one himself, as well as a USAC Ford Focus Midget.

So here at Bush Motorsports Racing, we are looking forward to the 2010 racing season. We welcome and invite you to check back often with us. Please be sure to keep tabs on how we’re doing and we'll keep you updated with new photos and race results, as well as any new team news.

This season Mike is steering away from the sprint cars and changing up their racing operation to include a 2006 Bicknell asphalt sportsman car to be campaigned at Albany Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY and Devils Bowl Speedway in Fair Haven, VT under the CVRA banner in the Nascar Whelen All American Series and also at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY. This will be a new Endeavor for Mike and he is welcoming the new challenge, again “I will have the help and support of my fiancée Lucy Knowlton, My Dad and my Sponsors whom I can’t begin to thank enough, without them all this could not be possible
